Just like anywhere else there are good times and bad times to be driving. Only in Greece there are more bad times. On average Tuesday mornings 7am is a good time to drive.
Greece unfortunatley has the worst safety record in all of Europe. And unheard of numbers of fatalities occur on Holiday weekends.
In this small country with a population of only 11,000,000, its not uncommon for 36 people to die over a busy weekend with a little rain or snow. Not all Greeks are show-offs drivers trying to prove their superiority but still your driving defensively is a good idea!
Without being snide the leap from donkey to 160 km's an hour on two lane roads is a really large one to be made unguided. Obviously the citizens Greece are with out a good public awareness campaign that would be on going for eternity like the defense budget.
Drivers Ed from the cradle thru graduation is also mandated.
Oversight of television car advertisements showing just how cool it is to go fast don't help either and are irresponsible and should be fined as sending the wrong signal.
